Al Riyadi Win Record 20th Lebanese League Title

Al Riyadi have won a record 20th Lebanese Basketball League title after defeating arch-rivals Sagesse 100-79 in the deciding Game 7 at Manara. The win completed a 4-3 Finals series and secured a fourth consecutive league championship for the Beirut club.

Riyadi’s title run became much harder after Wael Arakji suffered an ACL injury during Game 2 and missed the rest of the series. The defending champions still found a way through, with Ali Mansour stepping into a larger playmaking role and later being named Finals MVP.

Karim Zeinoun scored 32 points in Game 7, while Thon Maker and Kouat Noi also played key roles across the series. Noi averaged 13.6 points over the seven-game Finals, as Riyadi closed out one of the most dramatic title runs in Lebanese basketball.

Al Riyadi legend Ismail Ahmad has officially entered the Guinness World Records after becoming the oldest professional men’s basketball player to record a triple-double. The Egyptian-born forward achieved the feat at 49 years and 243 days during a Lebanese League game against Homenetmen Beirut on May 24.

Known affectionately as “Somaa”, Ahmad is one of the most decorated players in Arab basketball. He has spent more than two decades with Al Riyadi, building a historic legacy through his success in Lebanon, across Asia and with the Egyptian national team.
